Cosmetichat

Soniya, Liz, anyone else (ha! Like anyone else reads this!)... our cosmetic discussions go here.

I'm opening up discussion by responding to the comments from my makeup brush post -

I just washed my brushes last night with a little shampoo. Most of them turned out fantastico, but I'll probably invest in a the MAC brush wash, since it's not that expensive. My eye shadow brushes were able to regain a shape that I only vaguely remember them having. My blush brush is continuing to fall apart and my powder brush continues to be pointy, fake, and awful.

I'm trying to come up with a good list of brushes that the average girl can't live without. So far, I'm up to smudge, concealer, blush, powder, and blending. Eyebrow maybe once I have something to actually put on my eyebrows.

Throw in your two rusty coppers on what brushes you love.

Soniya - I love applying my foundation with a brush. It takes a little longer, but I like the look of it once it's applied. If I'm in a hurry, I'll use that sponge. I didn't get the MAC brush tho, I bought the Sonia Kashuk one from Target and am very pleased with it.

Ya know, I'm starting to feel like maybe I'm lazy. I take about 1.2 seconds to do my makeup in the morning (and while I'm in Madison I rarely put it on at all). I think it's cuz I don't feel like I look that much better if I take my time or don't. Makeup can't help some of my flaws : ) MAC StudioTech (awesome), some blush, eyeliner, and lipstick (all MAC). That's generally all I use daily. What do y'all use daily? What about when going out?

My daily makeup for the winter is heavier than my daily makeup in the summer. Currently I use StudioTech foundation, MAC Sheer pressed powder, blush, eye shadow, FluidLine in Macroviolet (love it!), mascara, and gloss of some sort. (LipGlass or ProLongwear) if I have something to cover up or extra time, I'll use my Stila concealer. The majority of my products are MAC (except for blush... working on that).

When I'm heading out on the town, I usually play with my makeup a little more. I'll use the same stuff, but maybe play it up with a smoky eye and add a little MAC Iridescent Pressed Powder in Dressed To Kiss. I need to get more colors in eye shadow and lip so I have more options.

What do you do differently when hitting the town?

i think i wear a lot of make up but you can't tell and also i try to do it fast.

daily i wear:
bare minerals foundation, "warmth", blush, mineral veil. then i wear two eye colors, one to highlight and one in the crease usually. mascara, lips, im done. sometimes i do my brows but generally not.

the only thing i do different when i go out is i add a lot more to my eyes. usually a third color and definitely eye liner.

also i am an eyeliner retard and need help so i can wear it daily. do you wear top and bottom or just one. do you do inside the lash line, on it, or outside of it?
i dont use liquid only powder becuase i am dumb at liquid.

Liz - for liner look into MAC Fluidline. It's a thick eyeliner in a pot that you apply with a brush. It's way easier.

For daily, I usually only line the top of my eyes and blend it into my lash line. This is because 9 times out of 10 if my lower lids are lined, my eyes look really small.

When I go out I use a Bobbi Brown palette I got that is eyeshadow, blush, all over color....it's just 5 colors in strips in a palette. In a pinch I use it for everything on my face.

And I never wear eyeliner on my lower lids. I always have dark circles under my eyes anyways so I feel like it would make my eyes look small and tired.

Did you get my text? Have a happy birthday, ms. soniya! Get piss drunk and puke the whole way home. I hear that is customary for turning 30.... wait, what? Oh... nevermind. That was just Rob.
